The post

It's been way to long since I posted any thoughts (familiar theme I know).

Been trying to build a website. It's slow going, but will get there eventually.

Went from having zero things to do at work to being so busy that I didn't know what to do. In fact I worked consecutive days, April 13 until May 1. Actually got to make a little extra cash, which has been hard to come by. The AV & meeting world has suffered in the Fort with the halt of big business. So far our 2nd quarter is looking a billion times better than our 1st quarter. And that's good.

In the process of burning all my CD's to MP3's and saving them on my external hard drive. Many are already done, but just as many are not. It's very time consuming. But necessary. All forms of media with be condensed to files before long and stored on drives. Not sure if that's good or bad.

Finally got to mow my hay field aka the lawn on Friday. Rain and work prevented me from doing so. Now the weekly process will continue until fall.

I also got my garden ready for planting. And started pre-planting several items (a first time for this). My kitchen is littered with 8oz Styrofoam cups with tomatoes, cucumbers, and a variety of peppers. Still waiting to plant the flowers (all of which are edible) and spices until the end of the month.

I need to get a tree in my yard cut down. The ice storm last December broke several thick branches, which are just hanging there. Plus I hate that tree.

Looking into refinancing my mortgage. Got to try and take advantage while these rates are so low.

I spend way too much time looking a the shit sent to my GoogleReader. But I keep adding sites to it. And often, I'll share crazy items just for my own benefit. Hey, I may want to check it out again sometime.

Well, that's about it for now. In the words of the immortal Tiger, TTFN!!!

Another Day in the Fort

I realized it's been about 7 weeks since I put anything on here. The main reason was nothing was going on and I didn't have much to say. Dont really have anything to say now either, but oh well.

~ Work in Fort Wayne is still slow, but picked slightly last month. Plus I'm helping out our main office in Indy from time to time, which helps with the extra hours. In fact, I was in San Antonio last week and worked a bunch of hours. Also caught a cold from traveling and climate change to along with the blisters on my feet due to walking all over a convention center non-stop for 12 plus hours over a 4 day time period. Nice. At least those have healed and my cold has subsided.

~ Started my horror movies watched thread again and added horror novels read to it. Probably will only update once a month this time around.

~ I have another short story completed and should have it up later this week. One more read just to be sure.

~ Where is spring? I know it's close, but it's still too damn cold outside. It's time for a change in the weather.

~ I love my DVR and Hulu.com and streaming Netflix. Of course this means I watch way too much stuff.

~ When I buy a stack of blank DVD-R's, then I expect to burn in the DVD Recorder. The last batch dont. There's no explanation why, just an error code that I cant find out what it means. The DVD's burn fine in my PC. To bad most of what I want to transfer is old VHS stuff. DAMN!

~ Daylight Savings happens on Sunday. Still dont like it and feel it's rather dumb concept.

no work...still

So I'm rather pissed off right now. If you've been reading this blog, then you know that the AV world has been very slow in Fort Wayne since July. Companies just aren't holding meetings that need our services at the moment, thanks to the down turn in the economy. I've spent more hours wasting time at work than being productive. My wallet felt the crunch. If you didn't know these things, now you do.

Our main office in Indianapolis is still fairly busy at the moment. Last month, I told my boss and the guy in charge of scheduling techs in Indy that I am available to go on shows when they need help. Hopefully that would get me out and about earning some cash.

Then I go on vacation for about two and half weeks and come back on Monday. I find out from my boss that Indy had requested help for events this month, starting this weekend. The problem is my boss got the request back in December and forgot about it. I emailed the Indy contact to see if there was anything I could. Not surprisingly, he already filled the techs needed for these events with freelancers.

So in short, my boss cost me money. I could be out working and making some decent scratch for the first time in months. Instead, I'm stuck in the Fort Wayne office doing jack shit. And that pisses me off!!

Maybe I'll get a call for something later in the month. I hope so. I can afford to have my yearly earnings keep sliding down hill. I barely scrape by as it is.

Today is my birthday

Yeah...

I turned 35 today. It doesn't seem like it should be so. Certainly doesn't feel like it.

Actually it feels just like another day.
