One small leap...

Got to spend a couple of days in Dayton working at the Air Force Museum for the Aviation Hall of Fame. The banquet honored all the Apollo astronauts. The fourteen members (including Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell, Neil Armstrong, Tom Stafford, Jack Schmitt, and Fred Haise) were to give an hour talk, lead by former ABC News Journalist David Hart, about their missions. It was very interesting. Except the one hour turned into closer to two hours, which isn't fun when you have to run camera on your knees while on a concrete floor. After the first hour, my legs were numb and like jello. I couldn't wait for it end just so I could stand up.

I had some time to walk around one wing of the museum. I've never been into planes and such, but this place is awesome. So much history with in these walls. Not to mention the over all cool factor of the joint. Plus it's free to get in. I just may have to make a return to check out the whole thing.

making an official website

I've been getting very serious about getting my writing "out there" to be discovered. Which is why the first step was getting a domain name. Soon will be live. It's a work in progress and would be up now except I cant get the website builder (Yoola) connected and recognized through GoDaddy's hosting service. It's a learning process. One more go around through the help manual and it's an email to tech support.

Looking forward to a July 4th weekend. Four days off! Heading to Indy for a couple of days, then up to northern IN to Whitmer Lake for a day, then back home on Sunday. It's almost work driving around the country to see people. Next weekend it's off to Lafayette!

Took a wrestling trip last month. Myself along with a couple of buddies from Michigan headed to the Washington DC area for a couple of days, then up to Manhattan for a couple of days. It'll probably my only one of the year (keeping fingers crossed for a Boston-NYC trip in September) but the offer was just too good to pass up as a great friend, Greg, provided many people with very cost effective accommodations. Plus got to once again see a bunch of guys from Europe that I became pals with last year in Orlando. It's crazy the friendships that have been sparked due to a wrestling promotion called Ring of Honor and very, very generous human being named Greg. The wrestling events were good. The company was even better.

Very slow at work. Still. It's getting real scary.

Not much else going on.
Until next time.

Refinancing

So last week I inquired about refinancing my mortgage. I received a quote on Friday that was about a 1.5% lower than my current rate. Sweet. I got some things in place over the holiday weekend to take care of closing costs and was very happy. Hey I was going to save around $80 a month. Nice. I talk to the loan agent on Tuesday and find out I have to fill out the application for refinancing. So I did it online that night and sent it off. I got confirmation on Wednesday evening the application was approved. However, rates went up slightly and my original estimate would be about $6 higher. The loan officer wants to talk and see if the process should be moved forward. OK, not that big of a deal. A small increase. This morning, look at the rates and they went up again. Now I'd be saving 1.25% or about $12 more than the originally quote. Not bad and it still saves me a bunch of money in the long run. I give the loan officer a call, leave a message that I will try again this afternoon. Which I just did. And guess what...rates went up again. Huge. Now I'd be only saving .75%, which is about $40 less than what I'm paying now. That's right in the matter of 3 days, mortgage rates skyrocketed up .75% and now I'm left to ponder. Do I still refinance at the current rate, which will still save me some money, or do I gamble and see if rates slowly come back down.

I'm so pissed right now. As usual, I decide to look into this stuff too late. A week earlier and I'd be set with a much lower interest rate. Now...who the hell knows?
